Kasos

The island can be reached by boat or by air. It has picturesque views and a quiet, very hospitable atmosphere. There are a few shops, restaurants and accommodations and a hand full of beautiful beaches, but certainly enough for you to enjoy a relaxing vacation here.

Discover Kasos by bicycle or hiking. This way you see more and can stop here and there for taking some amazing photographs or enjoy lunch in one of the local taverns where you will be welcomed with open arms!

The architecture is typical here as it is a mixture of the blue and white you will find on the Cyclades islands and many other beautiful colors. One could say that there is something ‘artistic’ about it. Discover it by strolling through the streets of the main town Fry, where there is also a small Archaeological museum and you might as well like to pay a visit to a typical Kasiotic house The house of Ioulia Daskalaki.

Ellinokamara

If you like hiking, then you might fancy visiting the Ellinokamara Cave, which is situated on the southern side of the island near the village of Agia Marina. In ancient times this cave was used as a place of worship and in later years it was a place to hide from the many pirates that visited the island. Near Agia Marina in the area of Chadies you can also visit the 17th century old monastery of Agios Georgios.

Churches and more...churches!

Although a quite small island, Kasos has many churches. You will find six of them built in a row in Byzantine style located in the settlement named Panagia. Other beautiful churches worth a visit are Pera Panagia in the same area and Agios Spyridon in Fry above the port named Bouka.

Moving a bit land inwards from Fry, is the old capital of the island Poli where you will find more churches, each one with its typical architecture and rich history such as the Holy Triad church and the monastery of Agios Mamas.

Greek food and drinks

As you already read: you will be welcomed with open arms. And this goes for the people, but the experience of good, local cuisine will certainly contribute to your unique Kasos-experience! Here are some places you will love, but overall there is no such thing as a bad food experience here!

Restaurant Emporios about 500m from the town of Fry serves fresh fish and local salads.

Restaurant tis Marouklas in Arvanotochori which is also the oldest café on the island serves delicious grilled meat amongst home made tomato sandwiches and mezze.

The Blue Mare Café in Fry serves traditional breakfast, coffee and sweets.

Beautiful beaches

On the nearby island or Armathia you will find one of the most stunning beaches of the Mediterranean, the beach of Marmaria. There are organized daytrips to Marmaria by boat from Fry.

Ammoudia situated on the North side of the island is another beautiful but deserted beach, ideally for a quiet relaxing beach day. Don’t forget to bring your own food and drinks.

Near the town of Fry is Emporio beach, where you will find both, food & drinks and umbrella’s.
